Tomorrow my sister and I are flying to Tokyo!!
Early start - we've got to be at Heathrow before 10am, which shouldn't be too bad.. 13.5 hour flight, and we land at 9am Tokyo time (midnight here)
That's going to be bizarre, hellish jet-lag here we come!!

I can't wait! I'm sitting at my desk, trying to concentrate on all those last minute tasks I need to finish before I go, and my mind just keeps wandering...

I love summer, more specifically I love sitting in pub gardens in the summer, chatting and drinking :)

Saturday was fab - was really late getting up to Katy's but managed it eventually and then wandered over to Stoke Newington, found an Irish pub and parked ourselves at the back of the garden while Katy told me her incredible holiday story, then we went back to the flat and ate chilli and drank wine. Passed out sometime after 2am..

Sunday evening = brilliant. Sat in Lucy's back garden with the usual suspects, drinking yet more wine and eating veggie meatballs and spuds. We stayed there quite late, listening to Gomez and Ryan Adams

You can tell it's summer... This is what Glastonbury looks like at the moment.. The gates opened 20 minutes ago, and it's still all green and lovely. There is rain on the webcam, but that might dry off..
It's been pissing it down all night there, it's still raining there now, and people will be trying to put their tents up as I'm typing this.
I don't know if I'm incredibly jealous of all the people I know that are going or incredibly thankful that I'm not going to have to spend the weekend up to my arse in mud and cow shit.

The only bands I'm really gutted about missing are Lamb and Muse. - but two lovely people have promised to phone me from gigs so that i can hear them live....

At least I get to see The Pixies in a couple of weeks...

Do not, I repeat, do NOT go and see The Day After Tomorrow.
It's without a doubt, one of the most tedious, badly written films that I've seen in years. I knew I should have gone to see Troy instead.

The pathetic attempt at a plot was tedious, badly paced and completely ridiculous. The obligatory love story sub-plot was painfully predictable (as with all of these crazy American action films) and the 'scenes of extended peril' just made me laugh.. (Wolves chasing the cast around a grounded Russian Navy ship - I shit you not. The helicopters freezing in mid-air were quite entertaining though.)

I thought that Jake Gyllenhaal might be the films saving grace -He was amazing in Donnie Darko and I was hoping that he would make this film watchable.. Sadly not though.

It just goes to show - if you've got a terrible (sensationalist, arrogant American) director, then you're screwed, not matter how talented an actor you are.

Staying in tonight.. I need to watch a film with some substance (and maybe subtitles)

I suspect that I might end up watching this though.. :-\

Go and see The Prisoner of Azkaban, and see if you agree with me that this is the best of the three by far..
A few little gripes with the film - of course they have to miss some parts out, but the story does jump a bit too much sometimes, and interesting parts of the story are missed out (an explanation of the Marauders Map, for example..)
Overall, it's amazing though. Alfonso Cuaron is a total genius, and Azkaban pisses all over Chamber of Secrets from a great height! (Christopher Columbus = shit director!)

Also - loved the little all Disney-esq bluebirds getting splatted by the Whomping Willow. Nice touch.

I'm going to see The Day After Tomorrow tonight.. It's Ad's choice this week for film club.. I wanted to go and see Troy. He didn't *pout*
It might be OK - on the plus side it has Jake Gyllenhaal in it, but unfortunately it's directed by the same director as Independance Day.
I expect it will be completely ridiculous, but might actually be alright. I wish they'd let you take beer into the cinema - it might make it a little more entertaining!!

What else..

Oh yes.. I've got an 80's fancy dress party to go to this weekend.. at la maison de la souris. It's not compulsory fancy dress, but it's always a bit rubbish when it's a party's fancy dress and people can't be arsed.. Hmm...

Any suggestions for who I can go as? Something that utilises my ridiculously long, black falls would be v good :)

This weekend was brilliant. Dinner at Sunil's on Friday with loads of people, and a scary scary amount of wine. I did mix my drinks though, and woke up at about 8am on Sunil's floor with a coat over me. Apparently I'd passed out on the wooden floor after my millionth glass of vino tinto, and someone put a coat on me. My head was so painful after that. I was sick too. :(

After a period of recovery on Saturday morning, my flatmate started the BBQ, people started to arrive and I started work on the beer. It didn't go down too well to start with, but I drank through it and six bottles later I was feeling brilliant.

Sat around with Pete and Rog and talked utter bollocks for most of the evening.. I haven't laughed that much in ages.. My stomach still hurts from all the giggling :-D
Watched Alien, then Eddie Izzard - Definite Article (yet more laughing) then watched Amelie up in my room, then sat up until about 5:30am listening to Mum, babbling on about what a good mood I was in and staring out the window in my room..

Sunday was so chilled. Sat outside, listening to music and reading Pratchett.. (which also made me giggle like a loon)

Sunday evening was spent in the garden at Baba, which is lovely.. Yet more beer was drunk, but I was feeling incredibly broken by that stage. Threated to bottle my flatmate because he wouldn't stop talking about bees and trains (can't be arsed to explain)
I was also thinking about very inapropriate things, which was a bit weird - but I think I'm going to save that story for the book (heh.. that one's going to be a lot of fun to write ;)

Wandered home, tried to watch Heathers at midnight, failed miserably and fell asleep listening to Lamb, a very happy bunny indeed.

Today I mostly feel weird and wrong. I haven't actually managed to do any work yet....
